This is an entry level position with a lot of room for growth and development with the company. Here you will learn the skills required to become an important member of the team and begin your career as a maintenance professional.
As a Maintenance Laborer your job will include the use of various maintenance tools (weed whacker, blowers, edgers, rakes, shovels, etc.). Always know where to find these items and where to store them at the end of the day.
You should be able to load and carry a wheelbarrow confidently. We tend to use machinery whenever possible but some jobs will require you to move material by hand.
You should be able to properly string a weed whacker.
Know how to mix fuel for the weed whackers, blowers and other small equipment.
Know how to fill lawn mowers with fuel.
Know how to check proper air pressure in the tires.
Be able to check oil in the mowers and refill to proper levels.
Clean and organize the trucks and trailers when asked to do so.
Know how to jump-start a lawn mower, if needed.
You must be able to pay attention, ask questions and show initiative in your work.
In order to reach the next job title (and the pay increase that goes with it) you will be required to
demonstrate the skills required of a Maintenance Foreman.
